Paws and Possibilities

UW Credit Union finances a future for Ginger Alberts Goral and her best friend.

UW Credit Union Member Ginger Alberts Coral, Mortgage Loan Officer Cory Poole, and nonprofit founder Tiffany Malone are pictured together. Ginger is holding her mini-poodle, Mazy.

I became a member when I was a student at UW-Madison in the late ‘70s because it was super convenient. Even though I was about an hour away from a branch when I moved to Oconomowoc in the early ‘90s, I kept banking with UW Credit Union because they were so accommodating to any need I had. When I was purchasing my home or getting a car loan, I could just pick up the phone and get the service I needed.

I’ll be retiring in the next few years, and I really want to come back to Madison. It was important to me to find a place where Mazy (my dog) and I are both welcome.

My life changed when I got Mazy, a 6-year-old breeder rescue mini-poodle. She needed spaying and surgery for a poorly healed fractured jaw. Her doggy smile is still skewed to the right. She makes me smile every day. As an older dog mom, I appreciate every single wag, every happy prance, every snuggle. She’s my constant companion.

I found a condo in Madison that checks every box for me, including being pet friendly. It was exactly what I wanted and I knew I had to have it. I immediately connected with Cory Poole, a Mortgage Loan Officer at the credit union.

Cory was a tremendous help in figuring out financing. A lot of the money I wanted to use was tied up in a short-term certificate, but he told me exactly what I needed to close the deal and not pay extra for not having enough for the down payment. Cory answered all my questions and helped me figure out what I could afford and all those kinds of things in the best possible way. I felt like he had my back.

I also researched buyer realtors and chose Tiffany Malone, who founded the nonprofit Own It – Building Black Wealth. When I cross-referenced the credit union to make sure that they supported this organization, I was pleased to discover they had two employees on the board.

Tiffany was super responsive. She solved several problems I had and went above and beyond. It was really nice to have her and Cory both advocating for me. I've been around the block because I'm older and I've purchased several times. (All of my homes have been through UW Credit Union.) But Tiffany and Cory knew even more than me, of course, and it was great to have them answer my questions.

Now I have an investment I can enjoy.

What stands out most for me in my decades of membership with UW Credit Union is the super personal service I’ve received. They treat me like an individual and I've always felt really treasured as a member.
